the storm

So we survived a tornado friday night.
I was at work, and we were all in the hallways and bathrooms, but my parents were driving home and got caught in it. There was prob more damage from flash floods than the tornado itself. There were 8 inches of rain in an hour, and the road washed away so my parents were stranded. They got to some high ground and waited it out and were able to drive home, then, but just barely because the road was all washed away. I couldn't make it in my little car, so had to stay in town. Hermosa, the little town closest to us, was under 10 feet of water and houses were floating away. This one house was floating away but it was fine until a car hit it! Softball sized hail destroyed cars and houses, trees were down all over the place. On the road to our place a big old shed got picked up by the tornado and landed a ways up the road on the fence. I haven't even seen all the damage yet, though, because I didn't get home til last night after it was dark. Horses and cows drowned, but thankfully no people died. My Dad was on the news because a reporter came up to this area and was interviewing people about their experience. Their car had some hail damage, but they didn't get hit with the softball sized ones, and our driveway is a bit washed away, and our floors are a litle wet, but other than that we didn't get any of the bad damage that some people did.

It's crazy that we have this drought for the longest time, then we get 8 inches of rain in an hour!

Anyway....that was exciting.
